Do you know your BMI?

BMI, body mass index, is a value derived from the weight and height of a person, a calculation used to determine whether a person is underweight, normal weight, overweight or obese. This calculation is important not only for your overall health and wellbeing but especially critical when contemplating surgery. At The Plastic Surgery Group, our top concerns are your well-being, safety and helping you reach your desired results. When considering body contouring your BMI, or Body Mass Index is the main criteria factor used to determine whether you are a good candidate. If your BMI is 30 or above, you are not a good candidate currently for surgical body contouring. The risk of a complication increases with a high BMI and ideal results are unachievable. There are a variety of options to help you reach your ideal weight and once you’ve reached a stable weight with an acceptable BMI we encourage you to come in for a complimentary consultation. A BMI within healthy range enhances your chances for an optimal outcome.
